Essentials Blue Fall 08′: The big “I”
October 18, 2008
For: The Institute Of Contemporary And Emerging Worship Studies, St. Stephen’s University, Essentials Blue Online Worship Theology Course with Dan Wilt
In Dan Wilt’s discussion on “The Nature Of God”, I was hit hard by the story that he tells regarding God as the big “I” inviting us, the little “i’s”, into communion with Him. Then, our individuality turns to individualism as we start to think life would be better if we were the big “I”. So many times I feel that life should be about me. Honestly, even as I prepare for worship sets it can sometimes be with me in mind. I wish that I could say that it was always about “flattering the Lord” with songs of praise. This description of our sin once again shows my need for a Rescuer. God as my Savior is the reason that I live not in death’s shadow, but in the life of Christ. It is “Christ in me” that gives evidence to the Kingdom of God overlapping with the earth. I loved this week material. It gives fresh view of life and almost gives a new coat of paint to ideas of that have begun to crack and be neglected.
Thanks Dan for a wonderful teaching!
